I can’t tell you how excited I am to share this book with you! I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reading copy of this amazing book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. So firstly, thank you to them, Pan Macmillan and Cathy Rentzenbrink. One of the best books I have read this year.
A love letter to the magic of books and power of reading. At once a personal memoir and a celebration of the literary world, Cathy shares how reading has shaped and guided her life.
Reading has saved my life again and again, and has held my hand through every difficult time.Cathy Rentzenbrink, Dear Reader, 2020
I absolutely loved this book! Cathy’s passion for reading was super inspirational and her love of books infectious – and I’m saying that as an obsessive bibliophile myself! I especially enjoyed all the book recommendations and my TBR list has multiplied considerably. I find it fascinating how what you read and when can reflect so much of who you are, and I felt that Cathy uses that beautiful history to write a heartfelt and inspiring memoir. Full of comforting advice to just keep reading, through the highs and lows, and see where life takes you.
On that note, Dear Reader, get yourself a copy and start reading!
As a bookseller for Waterstones myself, I found this a particularly inspirational book this year. I read Dear Reader just before going back to work after 3 months off for the Covid-19 lockdown. Cathy’s passion for sharing the power of reading, and her drive to unite people and books, gave me a lot of confidence and purpose returning to my job during this challenging time. Thank you.
Dear Reader is published today by Pan Macmillan.
